The book tells a true story about rezoning for a mega-bar that reads like an Upton Sinclair novel on how the zoning bureaucracy operates. The story takes an idea of the citizenry “Americans don’t want bar strips in their neighborhoods” and runs with it. The guy who wanted the mega-bar was a 41-year-old from Michigan going by the moniker Texas Tim. Texas Tim was a compadre of The Lone Ranger. The book is an entertaining read and not a dry treatise on real estate zoning.
The book comes with an addendum listing specific points that a property owner might use in zoning hearings. The place of the story is the old downtown area of a town that started as a small town and now is part of suburbia. This story has application throughout America.
